Christmas Carol adapted by Karen Louise Hebden was first produced at the Playhouse in 2003 directed by Stephen Edwards with Ben Roberts as Scrooge. The adaption beautifully wove traditional carols in with Dickens's text to underscore the action and broke all box office records with 98% paid attendance. As a consequence Hebden’s adaption was presented at Edinburgh’s Lyceum and revived at the Playhouse in 2006.
 
It has subsequently been published by Nick Hern Books London, enjoyed over 50 amateur productions nationally as well being the in augural christmas production at Kingston’s The Rose.
